GLOBAL WARMING - TDS

GLOBAL WARMING. PANIC OR REALITY?

Global warming is already under way. The evidence is vast and the urgency of taking action becomes clearer with every new scientific study. Some of the most obvious signs are visible in the Arctic, where rising temperatures and melting ice are dramatically changing the region’s unique landscapes and wildlife—as well as people’s lives and livelihoods. Across the globe, other early warning signs include melting glaciers, shifting ranges of plants and animals, and the earlier onset of spring.

VISIT THE LINKS TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS:

1. What is global warming?

Global warming is the rise in the average temperature of Earth's atmosphere and oceans since the late 19th century. The temperature of Earth's has increased by about 0.8ºC. The scientists are more than 90% certain that it's primarily caused by the concentrations of greenhouse gases produced by human activities and the pollution.

2. What is the process involved in the greenhouse effect?

The greenhouse effect is a process by which thermal radiation from a planetary surface is absorbed by atmospheric greenhouse gases, and is re-radiated in all directions. Since part of this radiation is back to the space and a part of it enters in the atmosphere of the Earth, it cause an important elevation of the average surface temperature.

3. What signs warn us about global warmming?

The signs are:
-The temperature rise of the Earth.
            -More fire
            -C
ontamination
            -Warmer summers
            -Melting of the poles

4. Can you quote another term for global warming?

Another term could be: global temperature rise.

5. Watch the video and explain this idea: Global warming: panic or reality?

I think that is a reality because we can see is starting to affect our planet. And because the people are destroying our world, with pollution of the cities, burning the rests of fosiles and anothers bad things and mistakes. It produces the temperature rise of the Earth and the melting of the poles... I could think I've realized that we need to change the world because is in danger!

6.What can we do to stop global warming? Suggest five ideas.

1.Use solar plants.
2.Use wind and sea turbines.
3.Buy electric cars.
4.Using renewable energy
5.Use bicycles or public transport
